Gems studio's conservation grade costume figures can be manufactured with a variety of different arm and hand options, including wax, fibreglass or resin. The types available are shown above.  (click on each for a fuller description). These can be finished and painted to compliment your choice of head whether it be realistic, character or abstract head.

We appreciate the delicacy that historical costume often comes to us in and as such, we suggest that the arms on conservation grade costume mannequins are fairly relaxed in position and have a flexible arm fitted to minimise stress placed on the garment displayed.

Our unique flexible elbow joint can be altered into different positions and can either use our standard hand or a we can life cast an arm position and hand to suit the required pose needed for each costume figure.

Shown left, are a pair of wax hands cast from a life form into the exact position required for the pose. Wax is a superior material for replica hands, being slightly translucent and therefore incredibly life-like when coloured up.
