The clay body sculpt in the sculptor's studio
Gems studio have been working closely with the conservators of the Grassi Museum of Anthropology for a number of years, on various gallery refurbishment projects. This particular project concentrates on presenting native Australian aboriginal tribes in their natural habitat, for the purpose of educating visitors about the aboriginal way of life.
As part of the project, we were asked to sculpt an aboriginal warrior, which has yet to be installed in the new gallery. The launch of this area is expected to happen in Sept 09.
Shown left, is the full clay sculpt of the body, photographed for final sign off by the client. We worked with a combination of client visits and e-mail images of the sculpt taken from all angles. This is an especially beneficial technique where the client is in another country and therefore not available for all sculpt meetings.
