Colouring and hair insertion nearing completion
The voice of Padre Pio, San Giovanni, Italy
The Shrine of Padre Pio in San Giovanni Rotondo, southern Italy, is the second-most visited Catholic shrine in the world. It centers on the tomb of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, a Capuchin friar, priest and mystic known for his devotion to God and care for the sick. He died in 1968 and was declared a saint in 2002.
gems studio were approached by The Capuchin Friars of San Giovanni Rotunda to sculpt and produce a Padre Pio figure for exhibit at the shrine. We have since worked with the Friars on a number of other projects.
Seen left, is the head during the colouring and hair insertion phase of the project. Detailed images were sent to the clients to ensure that the exact mix of hair colour was achieved.
