gems studio can source and make costumes and props for heritage centre and exhibition use. We hold an archive of costume pieces and have a wealth of contacts from which we can source items. In addition, we work with many talented dress and propmakers, designing the exact items that each client desires.

Shown left, is a fibre glass, animatronic figure produced for The Colonel Stephens railway museum, which holds the personal papers and effects of a man who was instrumental in the building of 16 light railways during his lifetime.

The curators of this small local museum commissioned gems studio in 2007 to sculpt a realistic likeness of the colonel in his later years to be installed in an office scene at the museum. Visitors can pass the window where the figure (with its animatronic head) will gaze up towards them and then back to writing at his desk. We were also asked to source suitable costume for the colonel from the early 1930's period.
